In a dimly lit dive bar on the outskirts of Point Pleasant, WV, two inquisitive strangers sit side by side. One, with eyes that have seen too much, takes a sip of his whiskey and starts to talk about his great grandfather's encounters with Mothman. The other, with an UFOnauts sticker on his laptop, leans in closer.
“Ever notice,” begins the first man, dragging out the words like he's tasted each one, “how those tales of fairies are eerily like today’s UFO sightings? It's like our ancestors had their own version of the X-Files.”
The man with the sticker smirks. “Oh, I've noticed.”
“Think about it. Fairies, like aliens, are describ
ed as these otherworldly beings. They come from another realm or planet, have their own set of rules, and love to mess with us mere mortals.”
Both men nod, peering into their drinks like they were black mirrors capable of divining the future, lost in thought.
“Abductions? Check,” the first man continues. “Fairies were notorious for stealing away humans to their realms, just as aliens whisk away people for... whatever they do.”
“Experiments,” the sticker man cuts in, rolling up his sleeve to reveal multiple puncture marks.
“And then there are the lights. The will-o'-the-wisp in the forests, leading travelers astray. Aren't those like the glowing orbs or lights people see during UFO sightings?”
Sticker man sips his drink. “And let’s not forget time distortion. People claim that after being abducted by aliens, only a few minutes might have passed on Earth, but they feel like they’ve been gone for days. Isn’t that the same as those lost in the fairy world?”
The atmosphere grows thick with perplexed paranoia.
“And don’t even get me started on circles,” the first man whispers conspiratorially. “Fairy rings, where the fairies dance and if you step into one, you might never return. And then there are crop circles. Need I say more?”
The sticker man taps the bar table. “It's lik
e they’re all from the same... playbook. Just different costumes.”
They first man lets out a bolt of laughter, the sound a bit manic and quite alarming in the darkening bar.
“Could be,” the first man suggests, “that they're all just stories. Tales to explain the unexplainable. The dark forests of old are now the vast galaxies.”
“Or,” says the sticker man with a glint in his eye, “maybe they've always been here. Watching. Waiting. And the universe is their playground.”
The two men leave the bar, looking up at the night sky, where stars twinkle mischievously, like fairies, or distant spacecraft, winking down at t
hem.
Suddenly a bright beam of listless light envelopes both men.
"oh shit...." murmurs the sticker man under his breath while the first man polishes off his drink.
I wanted to make some observations about the similarities between the UFO folklore and the fairy folklore of Europe before I really began to dive deep into this subject. This will also be a continuous work, so bear with me!.
Similarities between the Fair Folk, UAP and MIB.
Elves are often accompanied by a disembodied light.
MIB, little people and UAP abduct people.
MIB and Elves are fascinated by every day objects.
MIB and Fair Folk are human like but just slightly off and they often disappear into seemingly thin air.
MIB, UAP and Elves cause nausea, brain fog and mobility impairment.
Fae often try to lure people to waterways. UAP often seen entering or leaving water ways.
MIB and little people often speak telepathically.
MIB and little ones often play tricks on people.
Elves and MIB are attracted to precious metals.
Some MIB spoke of being the people of the land, Fair Folk are described as subterranean.
Fae and MIB often enjoy sweets.
Fairies and MIB are described to have similar physical features.
I know this means very little to anyone not versed in UFOlogy or fairy folklore but I will attempt tp explain it more thoroughly and will add a nice twist for all the pagans out there!
